Frequently Asked Questions
A few things that you might like to know more about...Do you work with complete beginners?
Absolutely! My coaching is bespoke and designed to each client, so I can deliver highly effective coaching exactly for your needs, whether you have spoken in front of a group before or not.
Do I need to know what I want to say in advance?
It helps to know what your raw material includes before we start work together, as this allows us to move onto successful delivery far more quickly. If, however, if you require help to brainstorm initial ideas and material, this can be done in your initial one hour session within the Complete or Ultimate packages.
Do I have to attend a coaching session in person or can it be online?
If you will be presenting in person, then it is good to practise in front of someone in the same space (and progress can be quicker this way) but meeting in person is not always possible. The Complete or Ultimate packages, are designed to work around your schedule and can take a blended approach, of online and in person sessions, whatever works best for you.
In person sessions take place at Baldock Arts and Heritage Centre in North Herts, SG7 6AR, with easy access by public transport (Baldock train station) and by car (Junc 9 of the A1M), with free parking of up 2 hours outside the venue. *Please note, this venue also offers step free access.
Do you think you can help me overcome my nerves?
Nerves and anxiety are entirely natural when it comes to public speaking. I have a wide range of techniques that have worked for me, over many years, and have been very effective for others too. Whilst it would be impossible to eradicate all nervous feelings, it IS possible to re-channel that energy to be far more productive and, as your public speaking ability improves, your nerves will also gradually decrease.
Can you teach me to deliver without notes?
This is definitely an option and will depend on the length of your speech and what you want to achieve. I do coach this technique, but it’s worth mentioning that this style of delivery is not suitable for everyone and/or every situation, although it can be incredibly effective for those willing to take the plunge!
Can I come for coaching even if it is not for a specific event?
Of course! Excellent communication skills are the key to success in ANY area. Those people who speak well, do well! So, if this is an area that you are looking to improve as part of your general self development, please be assured that all my coaching can be structured to allow you to achieve the best possible results for you.
What is the difference between the Student Packages and Lamda Coaching?
Lamda requires that you sign up to a course of study and complete an exam/assessment at the end – this is the key difference. There is no exam involved as part of my coaching and it is specifically designed for YOU and what you want to achieve. You maybe someone who has never been interested or inclined to study Public Speaking before but, now that you have a presentation/ interview on the horizon, you are keen to do well in your chosen area of study and this specifically targeted approach makes that possible.
Can I share my 1 2 1 session with a friend also wishing to learn?
Yes! This can be a great option for shyer students who might like the moral support of a friend, whilst also learning from observing another. Another additional advantage of this is that the price can be shared between participants, but it does mean that the individual coaching time is also halved (so it might take a little longer to see the results). Only suitable for in person ‘Fast Fix’ sessions, with a maximum of two students.
